Synopsis

HIDE AND SEEK Huntress has broken into the Securities and Exchange Commission building in Washington, D.C., demanding the confidential documents they have on Starr Industries. This, in response to the SEC's apparent support of an overnight hostile takeover of the company by Holt Industries. Power Girl, meanwhile, has taken a more direct approach, quite literally breaking into the building to steal the file herself. When she returns to Huntress with the files, she discovers that the woman that Helena had been questioning went catatonic when she had mentioned DeSaad. At the sound of the Apokoliptian torturer's name being spoken again, a Warhound crashes through the wall and attacks them. After realizing that it is far too strong, Kara simply picks Helena off the ground, and the pair fly away to safety.  Elsewhere, DeSaad tortures Kubu with visions of fire, annoyed that the man had failed him and failed to cover up all the traces of Hakkou's attack on Starr Industries. Further, he is annoyed that Kubu failed to point out that Karen Starr is a person of power - but then, if Kubu hadn't failed, he would have been denied the pleasure of torturing him. Finally, DeSaad gives the man death, and turns to his other agents for information.   Helena and Karen take refuge in an old home in Alexandria, Virginia. There, Karen wonders whether this DeSaad is a refugee from their world, or if perhaps there is another Apokolips in this one. Helena points out that whatever the case, it cannot be a coincidence that he has chosen to interfere with their lives.   Unfortunately, the Warhound discovers their location, and smashes through the walls of the house - a disappointment for Helena, for whom this was one of her favourite safe houses.   Meanwhile, DeSaad calls on another of his agents, a man called Marbury, to make a great sacrifice in his master's service. The man is transformed into a monstrous creature, and DeSaad tasks him with discovering whether Karen Starr has the power to leave this world - which he assumes she must, given what she stole from Michael Holt.   As the Warhound's battle with Kara makes its way out into the street, Helena stays behind and recalls the advice her father had given her. He had told her that in fights where her opponent has equal or superior strength, she should make use of her environment, and weaponize it. She looks around, seeing the smokestacks of a nearby factory, and comes up with a plan. Power Girl leads the dog to it, wrapping it in cables and power lines in order to keep it from moving. Finally, Huntress causes an electrical transformer to short out, frying the dog. As she examines it, Power Girl wonders if the dog was able to fight her to a standstill because her powers are declining from being on this other Earth.
